Why can't car makers make simple cars?.

Had a look at a Quashqi today. Couldn't believe how complicated the control system was. In order to adjust the heater and fan speed you had to use the control screen and drop into a sub-menu just to change the speed of the fan. Why????. Whats wrong with good old manual knobs and sliders ?. These have been in use for many years and are quick and easy to adjust. Indeed, you don't need to pull over and stop just so you can put your reading glasses on to see the blasted screen.

It seems this 'touch-screen frenzy' has found it's way into every car made in the last 3 years. The manufacturers push all the tech as being 'what you need', but when they make a car that is so complex that if a mechanic's laptop cannot tell them whats wrong with the car, they are totally stumped and stand there with a deflated look on their face.

With all the tech in a car, the thing is likely to go wrong sooner rather than later with a massive repair bill for the poor owner. It really is enough to make you break out in hives just thinking about it.
