After all the speculation, the first batch of shop-floor redundancies have been made. Myself and 9 of my colleagues are now out of a job.
The strangest thing will be the feeling I get when the alarm goes-off on Tuesday morning and I don't have to get up to go to work.
I did think it crass that my now-former employers chose to lay-off some highly-skilled men, whilst retaining some really lazy ones. Perhaps I should had 6 months of the year off sick, then, then I might have been promoted, and been kept-on until the last.
Still, after 16 years 4 months and 9 days, I've finally got my hands on my redundancy payout.
As for further employment, I have 1 company to phone-up tomorrow to arrange an interview time, and have also sent-in 3 other applications. I am also going to register with some agencies, one of which has some well-paid jobs.
As my former employer is not laying-off anyone else this week, I kind-of guess that I will have to wait a couple of weeks more before I get to meet-up with Tony & steve at the Wednesday boot sale.
